The second stop on our Asian tour was Singapore. This time, the choice of destination was not only about the desire for adventure: my wife had to visit an important client in the city. Of course, this forced a special daily routine on us, but looking back, we made the most of it.

Since I worked in a home office, I spent my afternoons in my hotel room, in front of my laptop. However, this was not a disadvantage at all! While they were still fast asleep at home due to the time difference in Hungary, I had free time, so we used the mornings to take in the city and discover the most important sights with our daughter. Of coure we also visited the local store of our favourite brand, the UNIQLO, and I found lot of nice clothes again for myself and also for our daughter.

Of course, the symbol of the city, the monumental, three-tower Marina Bay Sands hotel, could not be left out. It was impressive to stand at its base and look up at the huge ship shape spanning the roof. We continued our architectural fascination at Gardens by the Bay, where we walked among the colorful, illuminated “Super Trees.” This futuristic forest is dazzling even during the day, but the real magic began at night: we watched the trees’ light show, which was like stepping into a sci-fi movie set.

There’s never enough lights in Singapore, so we headed to the waterfront in the Downtown district. Here we watched the famous Spectra a Light & Water Show, where they project stunning images and stories onto tiny water droplets blown into the air.

Of course, we got hungry from all the walking, so we visited the famous Satay by the Bay. This place is a gastronomic powerhouse: we sampled the best of Asian cuisine, from juicy satay skewers to a variety of spicy dishes. The cavalcade of flavors was just as diverse as the city itself.

On our last day, we wanted some peace and quiet after the hustle and bustle of the city, so we went to Fort Canning Park. Walking among the green hills and historic walls, we completely forgot that we were in the middle of an ultra-modern metropolis.

Even the drive home held surprises. Although we have been here before, Changi Airport has something new to show us every time.
