We flew to Prague for a quick weekend visit, and the city was at its most beautiful. A thick, soft blanket of snow covered everything. The embankments along the Vltava River and the cobblestone streets of the castle district were dazzlingly white, and the tops of the Gothic towers looked as if they had been sprinkled with powdered sugar, which gave the ancient walls a very special, fairytale atmosphere.
The city was already dressed in full festive attire, as everyone was excitedly preparing for Christmas. The streets were filled with the sweet scent of mulled wine and freshly baked chimney cake, the trdelník, and the squares were filled with huge, illuminated fir trees. Walking among the snowy rooftops and sparkling Christmas lights, we felt as if we had fallen into a postcard come to life, where the winter cold was completely forgotten by the warmth of the city center and the magic of the upcoming holiday.
