One day, we decided to leave the city behind us and go hiking. We chose Önnered, a charming seaside town in the southwest of Gothenburg. It is located just 10-12 kilometers from the city center, so a quick bus ride and we were in a completely different world in half an hour.
Although Önnered is not a typical, bustling tourist destination, this is exactly what gave it its charm. This area is more popular with locals because of its sailboat harbor and cozy little fishermen’s houses. As soon as we arrived, we headed straight for the coast and did a hiking in the typical, Scandinavian rocky countryside. We were lucky with the weather, at least it didn’t rain and we had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
It was a great feeling to discover this side of the area – after the big city brunches and historic buildings, here we were greeted by cliffs, salty sea air and endless tranquility. This little excursion became one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
