Just an average team building event? No.
Our company decided to organize a company-wide team building event in the most unusual way. All employees from Europe, US, Australia who could get a visa to the US, as well as some of the representatives of clients and partners, were flown to Miami, then boarded on a Royal Caribbean cruiseship, which sailed to Mexico and back in five days, while we filled our time with various presentations, discussions and trainings. Not forgetting, of course, the entertainment that lasted until the night after the joint programs.
In Mexico, Cozumel was the destination where we spent a pleasant day, mainly on the beach, enjoying the warmth of the tropical summer, before heading back to frozen Budapest in January.
Our journey from Miami to Cozumel was made on board the stunning Liberty of the Seas. This ship is not just a means of transportation between the Caribbean islands, but a floating city that meets all your needs. When we first saw her in the port of Miami, her dimensions simply took our breath away.
The ship is a Freedom class ship, weighs approximately 154,407 gross registered tons, is 339 meters long (more than three football fields long), and has a beam of 56 meters.
There are 15 guest decks available for guests and can normally accommodate 3,634 passengers (double occupancy), but at maximum occupancy, it can accommodate up to 4,960 guests, who are served by a crew of approximately 1,360.
The ship has a cruising speed of 21.6 knots (approximately 40 km/h).
Liberty of the Seas is famous for its “entertainment districts”. We loved the casino, the bars, but the Royal Promenade was also interesting. This is the “main street” of the ship, which is like a mall: a promenade full of shops, bars and cafes, where they even held parades.
On the Miami-Cozumel route, the ship’s stability was impressive; even on the open water, you could hardly feel the movement, so we could enjoy the view of the Caribbean Sea in complete peace from our balcony or from the outside deck, where we would lie on the sun loungers sipping mojitos and watching the stars in the Caribbean night.
