Welcome!

The PHP tamer is a development blog, where I try to write about some interesting issues, what I met in my projects.

Sometimes, smaller or bigger problems blocked the way, to finish a work, and the developer have to digs deep into the web, to found the solution. When I met problems, what not trivial to solve, I’ll try to explain the solution in my blog. Probably this will helps others to avoid the timesinking.

Some inforamtion about me;

My name is Zoltán Lengyel, and I’m living in Hungary. I’m a system developer since 1988, when I started to work on early Commodore 128, then PC XT and AT machines. I used dBase and Clipper ’87  for the first business applications, then Turbo Pascal and Foxpro. After these early years, I turned to SQL and transactional based application, and worked with Oracle, DB-400, MS SQL, SyBase databases, and used Delphi and Visual Basic as programming language.

Around 1995 I started to build web based applications, like portal engines, and B2B, B2C systems. These web applications was developed on ASP script language. In this years, I got some MCP certifications, and I was the 19th developer in the country, who reached the MCSD certification.

With the influence of the Linux based systems in the corporate sector, I turned to the MySQL, Postgres and PHP, and built some applications based on these tools, but because some larger projects I had to work in MS environment again, so I lost the contact with the Linux based web development for 3-4 years.

I started to work on Linux again, in 2010. I got some experience with Joomla and Drupal, but I didn’t really like them, so finally found the WordPress, as the system, what knows everything, what I need.

Now, I’m a freelancer developer who works on various web-based projects from all around the world.
